October Sky - This class will not only let you build rockets like Homer Hickam did, but you will write a program to calculate the height and if possible, the optimum launch angle for greatest distance. Be ready to exercise trial and error!
Behind the Scenes - Try your hand at breaking apart tiles, glass and stone and then putting them back together to create your own piece of art. A technique that has been used for centuries and preserved throughout the world, you will learn it to make your own piece of history.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - What does our government do? And how does it compare to those around our world? Spend time exploring current issues and problem-solving with practical solutions.
PERIOD II
Survivor - What would you do if you were lost in the woods? How would you lead a group through the Rockies? Learn survival skills during the week and if weather cooperates, you will spend one night camping outside on campus.
Pirates of the Carribean - Escape to the Caribbean! Learn how to cook traditional food, celebrate their holidays and speak their language. This year you will be very hands on, so be ready to explore.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - We won't just be creating paper cranes in this class! A whole range of origami will be taught. Then use your paper art to create mobiles, jewelry or other self-designed items!
Dancing with the Stars - Be ready to bust a move! In this class you will be able to sample a variety of dances and learn about the music that inspired them!
PERIOD III
The Matrix - How do numbers affect our universe? How would Stephen Hawking answer your questions? If you think digitally, then this course is ready for your input!
The Great Debaters - Are you ready to prove your point? Let's discuss some hot topics and current events while proving our points. Get ready to think on your feet and make yourself heard.
The Red Badge of Courage - History repeats itself. So let's go back and relive it. You will experience four different time periods and then have an intellectual discussion on the final day of how these periods are affecting our current events. Deep thinking is required!
Lights, Camera, Action! Digital animation is a camper favorite! Back again in its fourth year, campers will learn how digitally-animated videos are created and will create their own with a local expert as their guide!
