20 Honored in GED graduation ceremony

Our ABE/GED programs started in 1985. The ABE/GED programs have grown and have helped hundreds of Tioga County Residents with FREE Adult Education classes as well as family education.

The goal of our ABE/GED program is to:

  • help people become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment
  • help parents obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the education of their children
  • assist adults to qualify for the high school equivalency (GED) exam
Each year over 200 adults from Tioga County attend classes to:
  • gain the speaking, listening, reading, writing, thinking, and math skills needed for job readiness and foundational work skills
  • obtain computer skills
  • learn how to become an active partner in their children's education and learning
  • learn English as a second language
  • obtain problem solving and thinking skills to meet demands
  • study to pass the GED high school equivalency test
  • be assisted by a one-on-one tutor
  • attend Parenting and PACT time classes
